Southwest Conservation Corps has an immediate opening for a Visual Information Intern.
Duration: 23 weeks
Living Stipend: $400 per week

Internship Description: The primary goal of this internship is to aid the park in the production of interpretive materials for the 150th Commemoration of the 1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie. These materials will be used for Commemoration events and help the park provide the specific perspectives of the traditionally associated tribes to effectively present their story and engage them in broader park interpretation.
Duties: As needed in support of duties and as directed/specified by supervisor, conducts general research using primary sources on park related themes related to history, archeology, cultural and natural resources management, and natural history in order to develop technical aspects of visual information projects. Following established guidelines, plans the visual aspects of printed materials. Assists in producing plans and products that satisfy objectives for interpreting park resources. As specified by others, produces interior and exterior orientation, printed signage, information and interpretive exhibits to meet interpretive and informational purposes that are generally of a factual nature or specific to an event. Assists in development of exhibits, selects common visual materials to support text and enhance aesthetic appeal of publications and presentations. Specifies and decides on placement of text in relation to art, artifacts, etc. Maintains a sufficient working knowledge of new and emerging technologies and incorporates into products created. Must have a basic knowledge of a variety of methods, standards, techniques, and materials used in the design, production, and reproduction of visual products to plan the technical details of, or produce, aesthetically composed visual products in a timely manner. Skill in appropriate software to accomplish tasks such as photo and video editing, as well as user knowledge of printers, and large-format plotters. Technical proficiency in use of software and hardware options necessary to maintain and optimize the use of interpretive media. Deliver accurate and effective visitor experiences, activities, interpretation facilitating a variety of opportunities for people to make meaningful connections to the 1868 treaty of Fort Laramie and park resources. Work effectively both externally and internally as a contributing member of the parks team and mission.
